A printed sheet with a line drawing of a tortoise facing left, labeled Left. In the top left and corner there is a scale showing that the actual size of the sculpture would be 1790mm head to tip and 900mm in height. The Tortoise line drawing has been painted over with a design based on a phoenix. The tortoise now has a grey beak, dark black bird-like eye, and bright feathers going from yellow on its face to orange and then tipped in red by the base of its neck, the side of its shell has been painted to resemble a folded wing that goes from red to bright yellow. Its belly is midnight black and its legs are light grey at the top like smoke, with flames coming up from the feet. On the very top of the shell we can just see a design peeking out between the wings that shows green grass at the back of the shell, with a bright yellow sun rising over it and a sky that goes from deep orange to black and specked with stars the closer it gets to the front of the shell.
